Party Wall issues crop up regularly with houses and, mostly, these can be amicably resolved with your neighbours. However, where this is not case then 'The Party Wall Act' is designed to straighten things out.
Before (hopefully) you have got to the stage of hoying bricks through each other's windows, the Party Wall Act allows you to appoint a 'Party Wall Surveyor' whether you are building something or your neighbour is. The Party Wall Surveyor draws up an agreement that will include items such as a) when something can be built,what happens if your neighbour's work damages your property and how you get access to each other's land.
